REFLECTION: THE GLASS BY SHARON OLDS

I am amazed at how detailed the poem “The Glass” is; it was intriguing at first. But as you get to read the whole poem, it was interesting. I find it cool when the poem's author included direct words that give you a picture of what has happened. That day by day, she gets to see her father’s painful days here on earth. The author manages to set the mood from quite odd to firing things up that would make you say, wow. All throughout the poem, the words become more specific and descriptive. Some words may have been too uncomfortable to think of, but still, the author did great. I like how the Glass made the entire poem relevantly beautiful, that you can see how life within a reflection of truth. She was not even bothered and sickened with his father’s situation with phlegm in the Glass. Instead, she saw something different that made her realize that what surrounds you could become the center of your life.
